Type Cause Connectors

 1. AND

Example:

  ü  They saw a cat and a dog.

(Mereka melihat seekor kucing dan seekor anjing)

  ü  He saw a cat, a dog, a mouse, and a rabbit.

(Dia melihat seekor kucing, seekor anjing, seekor tikus, dan seekor kelinci)

 2.  BUT

Example:

  ü  I was sleepy but I couldn't sleep.

(Saya mengentuk tetapi saya tidak bisa tidur)

  ü  She is rich but she is stingy.

(Dia kaya tetapi dia pelit)

3. OR

Example:

  ü  Do you like coffee or tea?

(Kamu suka kopi atau teh?)

  ü  Do you want to go home or stay here?

(Kamu mau pulang atau mau menginap disini?)

 4. SO

Example:

  ü  I have never practice to swim, so I can't swim.

(Saya tidak pernah berlatih berenang sehingga saya tidak bisa berenang)

  ü  I always use email for correspondence, so I rarely write letters for correspondence.

(Saya selalu menggunakan email untuk berkorenspondensi, sehingga saya jarang sekali menulis surat untuk korespondensi)

 5. BECAUSE

Example:

  ü  I called you because I miss you.

(Saya menelpon kamu karena saya merindukanmu)

  ü  She failed the test because she was lazy.

(Dia gagal karena dia malas)

CONNECTORS (Kata Penghubung)

Connectors digunakan untuk menggabungkan dua kalimat/lebih menjadi satu kalimat. Connectors dibagi menjadi 3, yaitu:

      A.    Menunjukan waktu: before, after, as soon as, while, when.

      1.      We went home after the rain stopped.

      2.      I prepare my ticket and passport before I go on holiday to Paris.

      B.     Menunjukan sebab dan akibat: because/because of, since.

      1.      I went to the hospital because I had a serious accident.

      2.      Since I have no money, I can’t treat you.

     C.     Menunjukan tanda urutan: first, next, then, after that, finally.

     1.      first, we must prepare the ingredients.

     2.      Next, we cut the vegetables into small pieces.
